Northeastern Chapter Roots........

On the weekend of September 18-20 in 1964, at Ellis Haven Campground in Carver, Massachusetts the Northeastern Chapter of FMCA was born. A group gathered around a campfire shortly after the first FMCA convention at Fort Ticonderoga to establish a New England regional chapter.

The discussion was brought up by Frank Shaw,F 405, of Hanson,Mass. The name Northeastern Chapter was chosen in order to include members attending from Quebec, New York, and New Jersey. Frank agreed to serve as President, Secretary and Treasurer. The annual dues was set at $2.00 and a group was formed to investigate affiliation with the national FMCA. A meeting was held on Columbus Day weekend 1964 at Bud Stones, F3 in Auburn, Mass.

Northeastern chapter was official chartered on April 10, 1965. On that same date 20 coaches or house buses gathered at the Grange Hall in Rockland, Mass for its very first official rally.

The Northeastern Chapter is still thriving and growing its membership and is affiliated with its sister clubs the Yankee Travelers and Cape Codder's that meet for one tri -meet a year.
